OCB Circle City – Another top 3 finish!

"Pumping up" backstage

This past weekend I participated in the OCB Circle City Bodybuilding & Figure Championships.  I placed 2nd place in the open figure division.  The show was a great experience, thanks to Jennifer and Jesse Dale who ran an almost seamless show, by far the most organized so far.  It was a long day, filled with alot of waiting around, with a bigger show it is almost inevitable to wait!  I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some really nice people.

Once again, thanks to all the people who  helped & supported me (Chuck Rudolph – nutrition, Bella Bronze Tanning – tan, Diva at Colette Salon – hair, Derrick – any additional support I needed & of course my backstage man!)

I am  learning that each organization is very different, and each pannel of judging is very different.  Competing in figure is so subjective, either you have what the judges like or  you don’t.  there doesn’t seem to be a consistent “standard”.  It does feel pretty good that I can get up there and give the judges a hard time, the final 1st and 2nd place was between me and the other woman who ironically enough placed 2nd to me at the NANBF Great Northern 2 weeks ago.  This time the judges went her way, she and I have different physiques and different strengths.  Besides, 2nd palce keeps you humble.  All of the women (& men) work so hard to get up on that stage, congratulations to everyone.

For now, I’ll be hanging up the stillettos for about 6 weeks and focusing my efforts on my professional life.  then i’ll be back, shooting for a slot on a pro-stage later in the fall.

Thanks for keeping up with me.  visit me on Twitter and Facebook “chelseafitpro”

Overall Figure Champion…. 2nd time!

May 16th, I won my second Overall Figure Championship title.  To win the overall, I won my class (Figure Tall), then competed against the winners of the other two classes (Short & Medium) to win the Overall.

The win did not come with out a little pageant drama! It had to so I could have a good victory story.  The morning started out at 6am with a hair appointment at Collette Salon & Spa (Thanks Diva).  Then off to Bradley Illinois for an 8:30am competitor meeting along with my photographer Allison who by the way took some AMAZING shots of me both back stage and throughout the day.  Such a talented woman – Thanks Allison!

The meeting ends, off to the back stage area or “pump area” to get ready for stage, if you compete, you know that can be a process.  I’m told I have 45 minutes, then about 15 minutes later, I’m told 5 minutes to get on stage.  Derrick who is trying to get the rest of my tanning cream on and even it out– now only has one leg done, I’m working on one arm.  We freaked! No time to finish, so the quickest thing to do was take off the dream tan (tanning cream) and just get out there.  Thanks Derrick, I couldn’t get up there with out you ! So I go on stage DRY, also, if you compete, you know that is a BAD thing.  Even though I had a marvelous tan already from Bella Bronze (Thanks Sandra & Mario) the stage lights just wash you out.  Oh well, it was show time, I grabbed my 5 inch clear stilettos and tried strapping them on while running toward the stage.  Shook it off and did my thing! I was pretty upset because the judges could tell I was a bit frazzled (I guess forgetting my number gave it away).  Pre-judging ended that way, then we had a break until the evening show, which is basically just the awards presentation, so… it was what it was!

I was sure to get back really EARLY to avoid any potential timing disasters! I was going to make sure that If I did not win because of that, I would make damn sure everyone saw me at my best on stage.  It paid off, I guess a great diet and conditioning even shows through the stage lights and lack of backstage prep!  I was hopefull that the judges would have seen that.

So all in all it was a great show and a great experience.  Each time I get on stage, I feel more and more comfortable and relaxed about what it is I am there to do.  Back on stage in 10 days May 30th in Indianapolis!  Thanks again to everyone who supports and inspires me.  Wish me luck!
